Get to Know Stephanie…
I am a Missouri native currently living in Birmingham, Alabama. I am married with two living children and owner of Summit Counseling. I am a University of Alabama at Birmingham counseling graduate working to support the mental, emotional, spiritual and social health of clients throughout the central and north Alabama regions. I love home decor, floral design, reading, hospitality and sitting peacefully by the fire in my backyard or at the ocean under the warm sun. I am extremely passionate about travelling and National Parks. I’m on a mission to visit all 63 parks and when I save enough pennies to travel internationally, I look forward to exploring “bucket list” spots across the globe.
I became a counselor after ending up in a counselor's office during my first graduate degree program. I was also inspired by some amazing women I worked with at the time who were care-taking their aging parents and launching children while trying to work full time jobs. I knew they needed safe places to land like I had found in my own counselor. So, I decided to graduate from my program early and enroll at UAB in order to create safe places for those in need of respite. I have worked for 10+ years supporting those suffering from anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief and loss, trauma and the various stage of life issues that arise throughout our lifespan.
After receiving extensive training and consultation, I am proud to say that I am both a certified Lifespan Integration (LI) therapist and consultant. I also work in the southeast region of the US as an LI trainer, teaching others about this incredible modality that use in my own practice everyday. I believe in the power of this trauma intervention and enjoy working to heal chronic and acute trauma utilizing this modality.
To this day, I regularly attend counseling sessions to take care of my own mental, emotional, spiritual and social needs. I believe in the counseling relationship and the safety a good counselor can provide. I love being that person for those that graciously invite me alongside.
